How do I block access to an email that was sent with Smartlockr?

  • Updated

In this article we will show you how easy it is to block access to an email (and the attachments if there were any) for one or all recipients of a message that was sent with Smartlockr. Blocking an entire email (the text and attachments) is only possible if you used 'secure message' when sending the email. If you used any of the other options of Smartlockr the text of your email will be in the inbox of the recipient so there's no way to block it anymore.

Blocking all recipients:

Blocking all recipients could be useful if there is anything in your email that wasn't supposed to be there. you can block all recipients by taking these steps:

Step 1: Return to your sent emails in Outlook and click on the email you have sent out.

Step 2: In the top left corner you will find the 'Block this email' button. Click the button to block access for all recipients. The status will change reflect the blockage:

After the block:

Stap 3: You're done and the recipients will not be able to access the email (and attachments if there were any) anymore!

Block individual recipients:

Blocking individual recipients could be useful if you accidently added someone as a recipient that was not supposed to receive the email and you find out after sending the message. You can block a recipient by taking these steps:

Step 1: Return to your sent emails in Outlook and click on the email you have sent out. Click on the ‘Tracking & blocking’ button.

Step 2: Click on the tree dots next to the recipient you want to block. You now have the option to block separate or all recipients. Click on 'Block this recipient'.
